Classic Lasagna @ Bizzaro Italian Cafe, Greenlake

This place is anything but ordinary. As far as decorations and character, Bizzarro fits perfectly, but it's also very quaint, food is delicious, and the servers are sweet. I've been three times and have always been satisfied. If you have enough people, I would recommend trying every appetizer they have on the menu. Most recently, I came here with Calvin and thought to try the lasagna. For an appetizer, we had the Eggplant Parmigiana Spectacular, which tasted just like it sounded; parmesan encrusted, fried crispy and golden, smothered in mozzarella and their rustic tomato sauce. For dinner I ordered the lasagna. It's not everyday I order lasagna, I usually feel it comes out to dry, or the heavy pasta takes over all the other ingredients. Thankfully, this wasn't the case.

The description from their menu couldn't be more perfect. Layers and layers of handmade pasta, meaty Bolognese, beschemelle sauce and our world famous marinara covered with mozzarella and baked to perfection. The layers of lasagna felt endless and the meat was cooked and seasoned to perfection, not overpowering, but just the right amount. The cheesyness of the lasagna held the dish together and made me appreciate each bite even more, but the cherry on top was the in fact the sauce. This sauce was amazing, thick, pure, spiced and made with lots of care. The best part was, they had plenty of sauce swimming around the dish, allowing me to dunk every bite in a sea of marinara sauce to coat the lasagna even more. Delicious!
