A week in Israel and something other than shawarma and hummus really begin to sound attractive. While walking around Neve Tzedek in Tel Aviv, my cousin suggested we have lunch at Suzana. Found at the end of the street in Neve Tzedek, the exterior was terra cotta with a large patio at the entry and on the roof. The inside was enveloped by large glass walls and a glass ceiling allowing plenty of natural light while still being indoors. The menu had a variety of tasty salads, soups and stuffed savory pastries, but the dish recommended by our waiter was the lamb meatballs with sweet potatoes and potatoes. I believe the simplicity of this dish is what made it so attractive, especially after it was served.
When it arrived, I was pleased to enjoy the meat and potatoes with out rice or couscous, hummus or any other side. I started with the potatoes, the sweet one of course. After taking my first bite of the lamb meatballs I knew I hit a home run. There were so many herbs and spices, and the meat was juicy and and perfectly cooked. I appreciated how the potatoes were served the same size as the meatballs, making it easy to portion each bite and ensure a delectable experience. I finished the dish, ending with the sweet potato and couldn't have been happier. If you're walking around Neve Tzedek, I highly recommend stopping by Suzana and enjoying the lamb meatballs.
