Cream Cheese Dog: Late Night Street Meat, Belltown

I discovered this photo a few days ago on my phone, not exactly sure when it was taken, but I think it exemplifies one of Seattle's finest apres-soiree delights. If you've ever left a bar or club at a ridiculously early 1:30 am closing time, you too may have been craving a spicy flavor exploding hot dog to soak up the few pints of alcohol you ingested earlier that evening.

Not being a Seattle native, I was unaware that cream cheese is the perfect accompaniment between your hot dog and bun. After learning this fact within the first month I moved here, I don't think I'll ever eat another late night hot dog without it.

After trying nearly every street vendor in Seattle, my favorite is still on 1st ave in Belltown, north of Tia Lou's. The kid who runs the stand works there in the evenings to help pay for school at SCCC, so at least I'm supporting a good cause. If you're going out this evening, I recommend stopping by and ordering a spicy hot dog with a warm bun, cream cheese, grilled onion, jalapenos, Sriracha and BBQ sauce. It's the best!
